Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce faces a grilling today about what he told the federal government and the opposition before his dramatic decision to ground the airline's entire fleet last weekend.

Mr Joyce is due to give evidence at a parliamentary committee, scrutinising proposed legislation that'll affect Qantas operations.

Greens Leader Bob Brown has said Mr Joyce will be asked about any warnings he gave either of the main parties in the lead-up to Saturday's grounding, that followed months of industrial disputes.

The Qantas action has become a major political battleground, with Labor backbencher Doug Cameron accusing the airline of employer militancy and predicting a coalition government would reintroduce Work Choices under a different name
