A leading Air Safety Expert has told SBS online that 'teething troubles' are to be expected when new aeroplanes and engines are put to commercial use.
John Guselli, Chair of the Australian Advisory Board to the Flight Safety Foundation, said the return to Changi Airport after the 'uncontained engine failure' suffered by a Qantas Airbus A380 yesterday, was 'almost...a routine thing they've practiced many times.'

Television pictures showed Indonesian people on the ground displaying parts of what appeared to be casing of the Rolls Royce Trent engine of the A380.
Guselli said it was 'fairly obvious' that there are 'teething troubles with the introduction of any type of machinery.'
Guselli added, however, that Airbus and Rolls Royce take safety 'extremely seriously.'
