Qld authorities rule out plane crash

Authorities say a shed fire in the Gold Coast hinterland isn't the result of a light plane crash.

Authorities say a shed fire in the Gold Coast hinterland is not the result of a light plane crash.

Crews have searched the shed in the Tamborine area and there is no sign of any aircraft, the Department of Community Safety has told AAP.

There had earlier been unconfirmed reports a plane may have hit the shed.

Authorities now believe something inside the shed exploded, sparking the blaze.

The spokesman for the department said there were various accelerants in the shed, including gas cylinders and other fuel.

There have been no reports of injuries.

Earlier, police had said initial reports had suggested something had fallen from the sky, but they later said there were no reports of missing aircraft from nearby Coolangatta airport.
