The Queensland government has awarded $10 million in scholarships to 54 scientists to encourage them to stay in the state.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says the scholarships, as part of the government's Advance Queensland initiative, are aimed at enhancing the state's science research capabilities.
"These fellowships and scholarships are a direct result of our plan to stop the brain drain from Queensland, diversify our economy and develop the knowledge-based jobs of the future," Ms Palaszczuk said on Wednesday.
