Qld black market fisherman's boat seized

A fisherman has been hit with a fine and had his boat seized after authorities caught him delivering black market crayfish to a Brisbane restaurant.

A Queensland fisherman has been slugged with a hefty fine and had his boat seized after being caught delivering black market crayfish to a Brisbane restaurant.

Officers seized more than 133 kilograms of Redclaw, the man's 4.5 metre catamaran, along with 82 freshwater traps and a kayak during their investigation, Queensland Fisheries said in a statement on Monday.

The man, who was not a first-time offender, was fined $7600.

The restaurant manager, who said he bought the freshwater crayfish for a staff party and didn't intend to sell it, was slapped with a $1000 fine.
