A teenage boy has been charged with stabbing a girl, 15, in the chest and stomach in Townsville.

A teenage boy has been charged with repeatedly stabbing a 15-year-old girl in the chest and stomach in Townsville.

The boy, 16, allegedly attacked the girl at a home on The Strand in North Ward early on Sunday and he's since been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

The girl has undergone surgery and remains in the Townsville Hospital in a stable condition.
