Qld build daunting Shield target for WA

Queensland are out to set a formidable victory target in their Sheffield Shield clash with Western Australia in Townsville.

Dumped Test opener Joe Burns has fallen but Queensland are still building an imposing target in their Sheffield Shield clash with Western Australia in Townsville.

At stumps on day three at Tony Ireland Stadium, the Bulls are 4-130 in their second dig, holding an overall lead of 212.

Burns, who struck a fine 68 in the first innings, was bowled by axed Test allrounder Mitch Marsh for 38 on Monday.

Marsh (2-26) also removed opener Charlie Hemphrey (27) as Queensland lost 2-9.

But Marnus Labuschagne (31 not out) has helped steady the ship as the Bulls look to build a daunting victory target.

The Warriors attack is without strike left-arm quick Jason Behrendorff who suffered a leg stress fracture on Sunday.

Earlier, the Warriors declared their first innings at 6-340 in reply to Queensland's 422.

Test aspirant Cameron Bancroft top scored with 103 while Australian one-day bolter Hilton Cartwright fell for 84.

Marsh made just 14.

Michael Neser (2-50) was the pick of the Bulls bowlers.

The Warriors resumed on 3-186 on Monday.
