Qld bushfires recovery boss named

Major-General Stuart Smith has been named as state recovery coordinator to help central Queensland communities recover from the recent bushfires.

The man who led the recovery efforts after Cyclone Yasi has been put in charge of coordinating the response to Queensland's bushfire emergency.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says retired Major-General Stuart Smith will support Central Queensland communities affected by the recent bushfires in his role as State Recovery Coordinator.

"Queensland has not experienced a bushfire disaster of this size and scale before, but those impacted can be assured the Queensland government will continue to work closely with you as we bounce back from this," she said in a statement on Sunday.
