Queensland's health minister will brief cabinet about the mosquito-borne Zika virus with two cases confirmed in the state.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk on Sunday said the state's tally remained two, comprising a child who took a family trip to Samoa and a woman on the Gold Coast who visited El Salvador last year.
"The health minister (Cameron Dick) will be updating cabinet tomorrow about the situation," the premier flagged.
Thousands of people in Central and South America, particularly Brazil, have been diagnosed with the virus following recent outbreaks.
Symptoms include fever, skin rashes, headaches and conjunctivitis.
However, Zika poses a particular threat to pregnant women given a suspected link to birth malformations and neurological syndromes.
