A central Queensland childcare worker has been found not guilty of allegedly binding a toddler's legs with masking tape.

Michaela Jan Triffitt, 23, had been charged with deprivation of liberty after allegedly holding down a little girl with one hand while binding her legs with the other in September last year.

But the case was dismissed at Mackay Magistrates Court on Thursday after the evidence of chief witness Christy Ellis was deemed unreliable and inconsistent by magistrate Damien Dwyer.

A previous charge of torture had been dropped in May while prosecutors offered no evidence on Thursday to a charge of common assault, the ABC reports.
