Qld consider spinner for Shield clincher

After fielding an all-pace bowling attack for their thumping Sheffield Shield win in Hobart, Queensland are considering a spinner for their final=round match.

Phil Jaques is yet to decide if Queensland will reintroduce a dedicated spinner to the XI for their must-win final-round Sheffield Shield fixture after heralding a superb all-pace attack in Hobart.

The coach admitted he took a punt leaving Jason Floros on the sideline but was vindicated when his seamers twice tore through Tasmania's batting order at Bellerive Oval, producing an innings-and-172 run victory on Thursday.

"Right from the word go we were at our best. We bowled superbly," Jaques told AAP of his side's performance in Hobart which keeps their finals hopes alive.

Peter George took six scalps across two innings, with five each to Luke Feldman and Cameron Gannon.

Next on Queensland's hit list is top-of-the-table Victoria who the Bulls host for a match starting Thursday and another convincing win is necessary for a spot in the final.

Offbreaker Floros could come back into the side as Jaques considers some changes.

"Jason was in the squad for (Hobart), he'll come into the frame again," the coach said.

"Michael Neser is back fit so he'll come into the frame as well. We'll just have to have a few conversations and see what our best XI is."

Allrounder Neser injured his ankle bowling for the Gold Coast Dolphins more than three weeks ago but has been cleared to return to Shield duties.
