Qld flood damage bill to top $2 billion

The damage bill from Queensland's flood disaster could top $2 billion with more than 673,000 sheep and cattle estimated to have been lost.

The damage bill from the disastrous Queensland floods in February could top $2 billion with the scale of the disaster worse than initial estimates.

Rural industry lobby group Agforce estimates 673,000 head of cattle and sheep were lost during the catastrophic floods across north and western Queensland.

Agforce projects manager Andrew Freeman told the ABC that the stock losses alone would be valued around $800 million with infrastructure damage taking the final figure to at least $2 billion.
