Qld govt hospital ads deceiving: oppn

The Queensland government's new TV ad telling viewers existing hospitals won't be privatised has been called deceptive.

The Queensland government has been accused of using taxpayers' money to deceive them over its privatisation plan for public hospitals.

The government has launched TV advertisements saying "no existing public hospital will be privatised".

This comes after it confirmed its plan to fully outsource the running of a new hospital on the Sunshine Coast.

Shadow Health Minister Jo-Ann Miller says the ads are deceptive.

"What that says - particularly to Sunshine Coast residents - is that your hospital does not yet exist, so expect it to be privatised," Ms Miller said.

"The same goes for the new Queensland Children's Hospital and the new Gold Coast University Hospital that opens in two months' time."

The $1.8 billion Sunshine Coast University Hospital is due to open at Kawana in 2016.
