The Queensland opposition claims Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk leads an increasingly divided team, with a "multitude of contenders" auditioning for the role of leader.
Liberal National Party leader Tim Nicholls claims Labor's squabbling with the Brisbane City Council over the merits of the proposed Brisbane metro project and the long-awaited cross-river rail exposes more disunity.
"This is a government that is fighting with itself," he said on Tuesday.
Ms Palaszczuk on Monday called on Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk to "ditch" his metro project and instead fully support the cross-river rail, for which Labor has pledged $800 million.
"What we need is all three levels of government focused on the most important infrastructure project for our state, which is the cross-river rail," she said.
However, her deputy, Jackie Trad, appeared more willing to work with the council the next day.
"We don't have a business case for the metro, we don't have any technical studies for the metro," she told ABC radio.
"We have always said that the metro needs to complement cross-river rail, which is the state's number one infrastructure priority, but they shouldn't compete."
The subtle differences in public comment, Mr Nicholls claimed, were indicative of "deep division" and continued a pattern of behaviour.
Ms Palaszczuk this week sternly reminded her ministers in cabinet to focus on delivering for Queensland, which Mr Nicholls said was the premier needing to "slap down her own ministry".
He claimed Health Minister Cameron Dick and Ms Trad were both among those jostling to topple Ms Palaszczuk.
"Who knows who's going to win, there is a multitude of contenders."
Mr Nicholls wrested the LNP leadership position from his predecessor Lawrence Springborg in May.
Child Safety Minister Shannon Fentiman rejected rumours of disunity, acknowledging there were different opinions in cabinet.
"There is always great discussion and debate but we're absolutely all behind Annastacia," she said.
"She's the best thing we've got going for us and we're all absolutely behind her."
