Qld govt supports 'Smart Cities' plan

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says more federal government funding is needed to progress the cross river rail project.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has thrown her support behind Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's Smart Cities project, but wants to see more federal funding put on the table.

Ms Palaszczuk on Friday welcomed the announcement that infrastructure in cities would become a focus for the federal government.

But she said more money than the initial $50 million proposed was needed to fund projects like Brisbane's long-touted cross river rail.
