The Queensland Greens insists it doesn't have issues with the handling of the disclosure of its political donations, after a report about "inconsistencies" in the party's procedures.
The ABC reports the Electoral Commission of Queensland has "concerns" about advice the party gave its donors about their disclosure requirements, following an audit of the Queensland Greens branch over the last two years.
The ECQ strongly urged the Greens to conduct an internal review of its donations policies, saying current practices "may affect the accuracy, completeness and compliance of disclosure returns".
The Queensland Greens released a statement on Tuesday saying there was nothing out of the ordinary with the review, as the ECQ regularly audits political parties.
"We strongly support the new processes in Queensland which require rapid disclosure of political donations and the previous changes to reduce the disclosure threshold for donations back to $1000."
"Our ultimate goal is to have a cap on the size of all political donations and electoral expenditure, and to ban donations from all for-profit entities."
