Qld has toughest smoking laws in country

Australia's toughest anti-smoking laws are now in play in Queensland, with smokers banned from bus stops, taxi ranks, malls, aged care facilities and pools.

NEW SMOKE-FREE ZONES IN QUEENSLAND:

* Taxi ranks

* Bus stops

* Ferry terminals

* Train and light rail stations

* Early childhood education and care centres (5-metre buffer zone)

* Private residential aged care facilities

* Outdoor malls

* Public swimming pools

* Skate parks

* Viewing, officiating and playing areas for under-18 sporting events

* Government buildings (5-metre buffer zone)

* Any area designated by local councils, which could include: restaurant precincts, boardwalks, public parks and even entire suburbs.
