Qld hospital waiting lists grow longer

Queensland's Auditor-General has found the number of people waiting longer than recommended for elective surgery in the state doubled in late 2015.

Queensland's hospital waiting lists are rising again, with the number of people waiting too long for elective surgery doubling in the second half of 2015.

An Auditor-General's report has found the number of patients waiting longer than clinically recommended climbed from 175 to 356 between June and December 2015.

But it said waiting lists were still considerably shorter than in February 2013, when the number of people waiting longer than recommended reached a high of 7042.
