Qld infant dies after car hits pram

An infant has died after a car hit a pram at Woodridge, south of Brisbane.

A baby boy has died after his pram was run over by a car driven by his mother at a funeral south of Brisbane.

The pram with the 7-month-old boy inside was hit by a reversing vehicle on St Paul's Drive at Woodridge about 1:50pm on Friday.

The little boy was rushed to the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in a serious condition but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Queensland Police Senior Sergeant Tony Jackson said the boy's mother was the sole occupant of the vehicle and wasn't physically hurt.

"She is distraught and is being cared for by her husband and close family," Snr Sgt Jackson told reporters on the scene.

"It's a terrible tragedy and a timely reminder for parents who have children to ensure they know exactly where they are."

It's understood the woman was attending a funeral at nearby St Paul's Parish.

She and her family are assisting police with inquiries as the Forensic Crash Unit investigates.
