Qld Labor, LNP neck and neck in new poll

A ReachTel poll conducted this week doesn't have much good news for the Queensland Labor government, which is seeking re-election next year.

The Queensland Labor government's re-election chances have narrowed, with a new poll showing voter support is evenly split.

The ReachTel poll put Labor and the Liberal National Party opposition neck and neck at 50 per cent on a two-party preferred basis.

The primary vote was also level between the major parties, with Labor on 31.9 per cent and the LNP on 30.7.

One Nation polled third at 16.1 per cent, while the Greens had 7.2 per cent.

The poll of 1618 Queenslanders was conducted on Wednesday night.

It also found eight per cent of respondents were undecided.

But when questioned further about their preference between Labor and the LNP, the majority or 52.8 per cent backed the opposition.

ReachTel also asked respondents if they thought government money should be used to help fund the the controversial $16 billion Adani Carmichael coal mine.

A majority - 58.8 per cent - were either opposed or strongly opposed to such financial support.

Asked about the premier's proposed "royalties holiday" for Adani, most agreed it would break an election promise not to use taxpayers money to fund the project.

The next Queensland state election is due to be held by May 2018.
