The Queensland Liberal National Party's state convention has voted in favour of a resolution urging a future LNP state government to support and promote the coal industry's development.

The resolution to support and promote the industry's growth and resist environmental groups determined to disrupt the sector's progress was carried at the party's convention in Brisbane on Friday.

Federal MP Michelle Landry and state opposition whip Trevor Watts spoke in support of the motion.

"My electorate and Dawson have lost over 12,000 jobs in the coal sector over the last three, four years," Ms Landry said.

"I think it's important for our city colleagues and the members to realise how important the coal sector is.

"We have this GetUp and the green organisations putting ads up bagging the coal sector all over Queensland, all over this country."

Ms Landry said the Palaszczuk government was in "turmoil" over its support for coal due to Deputy Premier Jackie Trad and her "green alliances".
