Qld man alert after firing nails into head

A man has survived a horrifying nail gun accident in Queensland that left two long nails embedded in his skull.

A construction worker who accidentally fired two 30mm nails into his skull was alert as rescuers rushed him to a Brisbane hospital.

The nails were still embedded in the man's head when he was flown from Hervey Bay after a nail gun accident on Thursday.

"(He) had been doing construction work inside a property in the Wide Bay area and was on a ladder when he slipped, accidentally discharging the nail-gun which shot the two large nails into his skull," the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter service said.

Miraculously he was alert and in a stable condition on the flight to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital about 8pm.

An update on his condition is being sought.
