Qld man charged over torture of woman

A man will face court after the alleged torture of a woman at a house near Atherton in far north Queensland earlier this month.

A man has been charged with torturing a woman at a house in far north Queensland.

Police allege the 43-year-old man assaulted the woman, who he knew, and threatened two children in an altercation at the Watsonville home, near Atherton, on May 19.

He'll face Mareeba Magistrates Court on Monday on various charges including three counts each of torture, deprivation of liberty and threatening violence, as well as choking and assault.
