Qld man dies in SA helicopter crash

A Queensland man has died in a helicopter crash in South Australia's Far North, about 60 kilometres west of Woomera.

A Queensland pilot has died after his helicopter crashed in South Australia's Far North region.

Police and emergency services were called to a mine site at Pernatty, about 60 kilometres west of Woomera, just before 11am on Wednesday following reports of a crash.

The pilot and sole occupant, a 45-year-old Queensland man, died at the scene, and police are preparing a report for the coroner.

The crash is being investigated by SA Police major crash officers, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and Safe Work SA.
