A Queensland man who allegedly brandished a metal stake at police after bashing letterboxes and fences is expected to face court in late October.

Police say the 34-year-old raised the bar towards officers after walking down a street in Wishart on Saturday night hitting letterboxes, bus stops and fences with it.

He's since been charged with going armed so as to cause fear and is due to front the Holland Park Magistrates Court on October 25.
