After putting a broom through his support staff, Queensland coach Kevin Walters has continued to make sweeping changes by relocating the Maroons camp to Brisbane for 2019.

Walters has confirmed Camp Maroon will be based at W Brisbane luxury hotel in the city's CBD and no longer be held at the Gold Coast's Sanctuary Cove resort.

Training sessions will be held at Davies Park, across the Brisbane River at West End.

Walters said it was part of his "fresh approach" for 2019 after NSW claimed this year's State of Origin series - only their second triumph in 13 years.

The rare Blues series win had already prompted Walters to hire a new-look support staff.

Former Queensland captain Justin Hodges is his new assistant and ex-Maroons prop Petero Civoniceva will come in as team manager.

Assistants Josh Hannay and Trevor Gillmeister were among those cut by Walters, who will also use recently retired greats Johnathan Thurston and Billy Slater as specialist coaches at Camp Maroon next year.

"We've really enjoyed our time at Sanctuary Cove over the past few years, but we just felt the need to freshen things up a bit," Walters said of the Camp Maroon change.

"One of my responsibilities as the coach of the team is to provide the best possible environment for our players to prepare for an Origin game.

"And now that we've got some new faces in the team, the time is right to start afresh ahead of another challenging series."

The Origin series starts at Suncorp Stadium on June 5 with an historic game two in Perth on June 23 before the July 10 finale at Sydney's ANZ Stadium.
