Steve Dickson says his decision to remain One Nation's Queensland leader, despite losing his seat, is modelled on Campbell Newman's leadership of the LNP from outside parliament ahead of the 2012 election.
Mr Dickson also said federal One Nation Leader Pauline Hanson asked him to stay on in the role despite being voted out of Buderim.
"I'm probably replicating what Campbell Newman did ... serving as leader from outside the parliament," Mr Dickson told ABC Radio on Wednesday.
"I have no problem with it at all and I'm sure Queenslanders won't."
It was expected One Nation in Queensland would be led by Stephen Andrew, who's the party's only state MP after winning the seat of Mirani in the recent election.

But Mr Dickson said Mr Andrew would focus on his electorate while he continued to lift One Nation's profile in Queensland after what he described as promising results in the election.
"We've done extremely well to lift our profile," he said. "We are growing in leaps and bounds."
