Police are looking for a four-year-old boy who it's be lived may be at significant risk of harm after apparently being snatched from a Brisbane street.

A four-year-old boy is believed to be in significant risk of harm after possibly being snatched from a Brisbane suburb.

An amber alert has been issued by Queensland police, who say the boy was last seen being put in a car by a 33-year-old man who he knew, on Sunday afternoon.

Police are looking for the car, described as a silver 2004 Ford Falcon with Queensland registration 336KUL.

Its exact whereabouts are unknown, but it may be in the Rochedale or general area, police said.

The boy has a Caucasian appearance, dark hair and was wearing only black shorts, while the man is described as Caucasian, about 170cm tall with dark brown hair and brown eyes.
