Police have found the body of a surfer who failed to resurface after going under a wave at a Gold Coast beach.

Police have found the body of a surfer who had been missing in waters off the Gold Coast.

An air, sea and land search was launched on Thursday after Joshua Dixon, 34, failed to resurface after going under a wave at The Spit.

His body was found in waters near Crusoe Island, north of where he vanished, around 11am on Friday.

Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
