Queensland police headquarters in Brisbane have been declared safe after a two-hour bomb security scare.
Parts of the city centre building were evacuated early on Thursday afternoon, with bomb squad officers called in.
Parts of Makerston Street were closed off after a suspicious device was found in the car park at the rear of the building, police media said.
But the police cordon was lifted shortly after 4pm (AEST).
A bomb-disposal robot entered the car park at the rear of the building, but there was no evidence of any controlled explosion taking place.
Police Minister Jack Dempsey said it was an operational matter.
"We obviously set a high standard in relation to security," he told reporters during the scare.
"We'll obviously assess it at the highest degree until we know otherwise.
"And we'll work through the different security threats."
A police spokeswoman earlier told AAP some work areas were evacuated as a precaution.
