Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk will split the ministerial duties of Mark Bailey between two other ministers pending the outcome of a corruption investigation.
Mr Bailey stood aside on Wednesday after the Crime and Corruption Commission found his use and deletion of a private email account amounted to evidence of potentially corrupt conduct.
The watchdog referred the matter to the state archivist for further investigation, and Mr Bailey has stood down pending the outcome of that probe.
In the meantime, Treasurer Curtis Pitt will be given Energy, Biofuels and Water Supply in addition to his Treasury, Trade and Investment portfolios.
Environment Minister Steven Miles will also serve as Acting Minister for Main Roads, Road Safety and Ports.
The acting ministers will appear at budget estimates hearings next Thursday in Mr Bailey's place.
A statement from the premier's office confirmed Mr Bailey will be paid as a backbencher while the investigation is carried out.
The statement also promised to release new guidelines on ministerial use of private emails, recommended by the CCC, as soon as possible.
