LIFE EXPECTANCY:
- Queenslanders are living about two years longer compared with a decade ago
CLOSING THE GAP:
- Indigenous life expectancy has increased by one year over the past five years, but there is still a 10-year gap compared to non-indigenous Queenslanders. Death rates for diabetes, injury and coronary heart disease in indigenous Queenslanders have also declined
SMOKING:
- Smoking rate has declined and sits at about 12 per cent of Queensland adults. It has halved since 1998.
POPULATION GROWTH:
- Queensland's population has grown by 25 per cent in the last decade and is expected to increase 50 per cent again by 2026, taking the estimated population to 5.7 million.
