Qld set up WBBL rematch in 50-over final

Queensland flogged Western Australia and watched Victoria beat Tasmania on Sunday to qualify for the Women's National Cricket League final against NSW.

Queensland have set up a virtual rematch of the women's Big Bash League final, coming from the clouds to qualify for the 50-over Women's National Cricket League decider against NSW.

A week after Brisbane toppled the Sydney Sixers in the WBBL to take the trophy out of NSW for the first time, Queensland went from fourth to second on the final weekend of the WNCL to qualify for next Saturday's final in pursuit of a maiden title.

Nine of Queensland's 11 players turned out for the Heat in the WBBL final, while five of the NSW Breakers' players were in the Sixers' team.

After beating Victoria in a one-wicket thriller on Friday, Queensland needed to defeat Western Australia with a bonus point on Sunday and hope Victoria beat Tasmania.

The Queenslanders made light work of their task, with Jemma Barsby taking 4-11 and Jess Jonassen 3-10 as they rolled the Fury for 100 and chased the total down in just 16 overs.

Tasmania were then batted out of the competition by Australia's captain Meg Lanning, who hit 105 from 101 balls in Victoria's 7-260.

The Tigers were at one stage 0-97 in reply, but eventually fell to 14 runs short of their target and first final.

Queensland's appearance in the final will be their fifth, but they have never won the competition after last reaching the decider in 2016-17.

In comparison, NSW have qualified for all 22 of the finals in the tournament's history, winning 19 of them - including 12 of the past 13.

However the Breakers had to do it the hard way this season, entering the final rounds in third position but beating South Australia and ACT with bonus points to finish on top and earn a home final.
