The Queensland Labor government is trying to capitalise on the federal leadership woes by urging the Liberal National Party opposition to declare their allegiance.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is facing a second leadership challenge from former frontbencher Peter Dutton, while treasurer Scott Morrison is also tipped to throw his hat in the ring.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and several of her ministers attacked Mr Dutton in state parliament on Thursday and called on the opposition to declare whether they supported him for the prime ministership.
"The leader of the opposition today needs to come out and say fairly and clearly whether or not she backs Peter Dutton or Malcolm Turnbull," Ms Palaszczuk said.
The premier also said in her capacity as trade minister that the federal leadership situation was an "international embarrassment" and could affect the state's trade arrangements.
"It is a Liberal disease that is infecting Canberra," she said.
Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington has publicly commented on who she or the party supports.
