Qld Stanthorpe records minus 4.5 degrees

The big chill across Queensland was felt the most in the southern town of Stanthorpe where the temperature plunged to minus 4.5 overnight.

A Tenterfield saddler would have been freezing after the temperature plummeted to minus 4.5 degrees at nearby Stanthorpe.

The Bureau of Meteorology Queensland has tweeted that Stanthorpe, near the NSW border and 56km north of Tenterfield, recorded the lowest overnight temperature on Saturday in the Sunshine State.

"SE quarter of Qld shivered this AM! #Stanthorpe was the coldest with -4.5C," the BOM posted on their official Twitter page.
