Qld town warned as bushfire approaches

A bushfire north of Brisbane is bearing down on Toogoolawah, a town of just 1200 residents who've been warned to leave now.

Residents in a small town northwest of Brisbane have been told to leave their homes as a large fast-moving fire bushfire bears down on the community of more than 1200.

The blaze is travelling in an easterly direction from the Brisbane Valley Highway and Angledale Lane towards the town of Toogoolawah, Queensland Fire Service said on Thursday afternoon.

The Brisbane Valley Highway has been closed between Esk and the town, with residents told power, water and mobile phone coverage may be cut.
