Qld woman and girl die in crash with semi

A woman and a girl have been killed after the car they were travelling in collided with a truck in Queensland.

A mother and daughter have died after their car crashed head-on with a truck in the Wide Bay region of Queensland.

Leisa Purkis, 46, was taking her daughter Emerson, 12, and son Flynn, 15 to Shalom College on Monday morning when they collided with a semi-trailer, the Courier Mail reported.

Ms Purkis died at the scene of the accident on the Bundaberg-Gin Gin Road at South Kolan.

Her daughter died several hours later in hospital, where she had been taken with critical head injuries, police said.

Shalom College principal Dan McMahon told the Courier Mail the school community was in mourning for the family, who were tight knit, loving and active in sport.
