Qld women ready to extend RL dominance

The Queensland women's rugby league team hope to extend one of Australian sport's longest unbeaten streaks when they host NSW on the Gold Coast next month.

The Queensland women's rugby league team will seek to extend one of Australian sport's longest unbeaten streaks when they host NSW on the Gold Coast next month.

The QRL on Friday unveiled the team they hoped would extend the Maroons women's incredible 17-year unbeaten run in the Interstate Challenge.

Queensland will take on NSW on July 23 at Cbus Super Stadium as the curtain raiser to the Gold Coast Titans' NRL Round 20 clash with Parramatta.

The Maroons women may have dominated for almost two decades but they got a scare last year when held to a 4-4 draw by the fast improving NSW Blues.

The Queensland women's team was selected following last weekend's Women's State Carnival at Southport.

Queensland women's team: Karina Brown (South East Queensland), Chelsea Baker (Central Queensland), Amelia Kuk (South East Queensland), Annette Brander (Central Queensland), Casey Karklis (South East Queensland), Ali Brigginshaw (South East Queensland), Courtney Lockwood (Central Queensland), Steph Hancock (South East Queensland), Brittany Breayley (South East Queensland), Heather Ballinger (North Queensland), Renae Kunst (North Queensland), Tazmin Gray (South East Queensland), Rona Peters (South East Queensland), Libby Cook-Black (North Queensland), Steph Gallagher (Central Queensland), Selena Tranter (South East Queensland), Kody House (Central Queensland), Tegan Rolfe (Central Queensland).

Coach: Brad Donald. Assistant coach: Karyn Murphy.
