An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale has hit central Chile, as the South American nation recovers from a massive quake in February that killed nearly 500 people.
The quake struck early morning local time, and its epicentre was 65 kilometres south of Concepcion, BNO News reports.
The US Geological Survey says the quake was shallow, only 35 kilometres deep.

There have been no immediate reports of casualties.
The USGS originally reported the quake to have a magnitude of 6.1. That has since been revised down.
The February 27 earthquake and a resulting tsunami killed 486 people, and caused more than $A32 billion worth of damage.
It measured 8.8 on the Richter scale, making it one of the strongest quakes on record.
