Quake hits near NZ's Stewart Island

A magnitude 5.2 magnitude quake has struck off the coast of New Zealand's Stewart Island.

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake has struck off the west coast of New Zealand's Stewart Island.

The quake, which had a depth of 13km, struck just before 8.30am (6.30am AEDT) on Thursday, according to GeoNet.

There were a handful of reports of it being felt in the southern South Island city of Invercargill.
