Queensland Catholic teachers set to strike

About 6600 teachers at Catholic schools across Queensland are set to stop work in their latest piece of industrial action in a prolonged pay dispute.

Teachers at most of Queensland's Catholic schools are set to go on strike over a pay dispute.

About 6600 Independent Education Union staff will strike from 11am to 1pm on Thursday, following stop-work action on two days in September.

The Independent Education Union has said teachers have no choice but to take action as experienced staff are paid nearly $7000 less than their NSW counterparts.

However, the Queensland Catholic Education Commission has said good progress is being made to resolve the dispute.

The industrial action is not expected to cause major disruptions to students.
