Queensland flu cases down on 2017 numbers

Queensland has recorded over 3300 fewer cases of flu so far this year as more people opt for a jab to avoid the winter lurgy.

After last year's shocking flu season, Queensland has recorded over 3300 fewer cases than the same time in 2017.

The Queensland government says latest figures show 5668 notifications of influenza have been made so far this year, a significant decrease on the same time last year.

Queensland Health Minister Steven Miles said over one million government-funded flu vaccines have been issued across the state and it's understood that has played a major role in avoiding a repeat of last year's numbers.
