Queensland grassfire downgraded

The threat of a bushfire against the southern Queensland community of Wattle Camp, near Kingaroy, has been downgraded.

A grassfire that had threatened a southern Queensland community has been downgraded, but firefighters will remain at the scene overnight.

Firefighters spent Wednesday afternoon backburning and creating fire breaks in an attempt to control the blaze at Wattle Camp, near Kingaroy.

An alert issued by the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services later in the day said the threat had passed.

"You need to keep up to date and decide what actions you will take if the situation changes," the QFES advised.

Smoke will reduce visibility and air quality and power, water and mobile phone services could be cut.

The fire is currently at advice level.

"Properties are not under direct threat at this time," QFES said.
