Queensland Police find bodies in suspected family murder

A man is being questioned over the stabbing deaths of a woman and young girl in Qld, reported to be his mother and young sister.

Police have found two bodies after a man reportedly confessed to stabbing his mother and young sister at a house west of Brisbane.

Officers were called to a home on Redwood St, in the Toowoomba suburb of Newtown, about 9.30am (AEST) on Tuesday.

Police found two bodies when they arrived and a man is being questioned.

Officers have been unable to confirm media reports that the man called police himself to say he'd stabbed his mother and sister.

The street has been roped off and detectives are scouring the scene.
