A private school teacher is in isolation at Townsville Hospital after contracting Tuberculosis.

The Cathedral School teacher is in a stable condition and no other cases of the infectious disease has been found, the Townsville Public Health Unit confirmed on Tuesday.

In a statement to AAP, The Cathedral School said it is following protocol as advised by the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.

Those who have come in contact with the patient have been tested.

"Further testing will be required to definitively rule out additional cases," Townsville Public Health Unit director Dr Steven Donohue said.

The initial test is a skin test which is repeated after three months, Dr Donohue said.

"If you have not been contacted by our health service, you are not at risk."
