WHAT THEY SAID

"When will the prime minister stop running a part-time parliament and schedule extra sitting days so Labor's bills can become law before the next election?" - Opposition Leader Bill Shorten on banking reform.

"What the government is not going to do is engage in reckless legislation." - Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

"No great loss." - Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack on Labor MP Lisa Chesters being booted from question time.

"Is this question sponsored by anyone?" - Labor MP Brian Mitchell gets booted for taking a dig at Liberal MP Tim Wilson, the chair of a highly politicised inquiry in Labor's franking credits policy.

"The Member for Rankin's got his hands so deep in that chumbucket now, it will be smelling and smelling and smelling for weeks." - Mr Morrison on Jim Chalmers questioning of government contracting.
