Emerging paceman Gurinder Sandhu is prepared to put one of his party tricks on display again this summer, if called upon by his skipper.
Sandhu 22, who played two one-day internationals last January, proved a match-winner with his offspin in the recent second match between the Australian and Indian A teams in Chennai.
He picked up three wickets in three overs with his tweakers to help the tourists to a 10-wicket win and finished joint highest wicket-taker in the two-match series.
"I just tried to change it up and do something a bit different and it worked," Sandhu told AAP on Wednesday.
"I've bowled a fair bit (of spin) in the nets at practice and in one of the Shield games I actually got an over in last year."
Although pace remains the priority for the tall NSW bowler, he's happy to turn his hand to spin in a part-time and potential partnership breaking role.
"If the captain needs to try something or wants to change it up a bit," Sandhu said
"Or there's a massive partnership being put on by two batsmen, I'm happy to put my hand up and say `ok,`if you want me to bowl a couple of overs, I'll give you a couple of overs.'
"Just to change it up and try something to break the partnership."
Sandhu, who was born in Australia but has an Indian heritage, caught up with some of his relatives there during a brief IPL stint with Delhi prior to the A-team series.
Back home, he picked up a couple of wickets in a one-day practice match for NSW against Victoria in Sydney on Tuesday
His good form in last summer's domestic one-day competition earned him selection against India and England in the one-day tri-series prior to the World Cup.
The Blues' prospects in this season's limited overs tournament starting next week could be boosted by the anticipated cancellation of Australia's two-Test tour of Bangladesh.
The Test squad players would then be available for their respective state teams, which would give NSW five more internationals to add to at least nine others already available.
