Quickstep signs $75m flap deal

Aussie company Quickstep has sealed a $75m deal with Lockhheed to make wing flaps for Hercules aircraft.

An Australian firm has signed a $75 million agreement with US aerospace giant Lockheed Martin to supply wing flaps for C-130J Hercules transport aircraft.

Under the deal, Quickstep will make 120 sets of the carbon fibre flaps through to 2018 at the rate of 24 sets a year.

They will be manufactured at the company's Bankstown facility in western Sydney.

Managing director Philippe Odouard said the deal gave the company some certainty.

"We are on track to deliver the first completed assemblies in the next few weeks," he said in a statement.
