Adam Quinlan has starred for St George Illawarra in their 44-4 NRL trial defeat of the Central Capras in Rockhampton.

Quinlan set up Corey Brown and scored one himself either side of halftime, as a largely reserve grade Dragons side ran out convincing winners against the Queensland Cup team at Browne Park.

Quinlan, who returned to the Dragons after a one-year stint in England with St Helens, is in the running for an outside backs position should the Red V suffer injuries.

The No.1 was strong in attack and at the back, a little more than a week out from their season opener against Melbourne at AAMI Park.

Five-eighth Drew Hutchison, winger Tom Carr and centre Brown all crossed for doubles.

Former North Queensland and Gold Coast winger Kalifa FaiFai Loa who, like Quinlan, returned to the Dragons after a stint away, also bagged a second-half try.
