The Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation says racism in health and law enforcement organisations in the state must be dealt with so indigenous people can use the health services they need.
Health Minister David Davis has launched what he says is Victoria's first long-term indigenous health strategy, saying the existing health gap needs to be narrowed.
The aboriginal health advocacy group's chief executive Jill Gallagher says it's a positive sign that governments are starting to address indigenous health, but the issue of racism must also been dealt with in health and law enforcement organisations.
